This quilt was inspired by the book, Thimble Of Soil, by Linda K. Hubalek. The historical letters of widow Margaret Kennedy, written in 1854-1860, tell a captivating story of the trail to Kansas, homesteading, and her love for family. The center of the quilt features two log house blocks, as home and family were the core of Margaret's life. Surrounding these are many log cabin blocks for the many friends and neighbors she helped. This pattern includes "The Inside Story," which describes each block's origin, why it was selected, and information on the other patterns and books available in this series.
